Apartment lifestyle suited to ageing in place

A philosophy of residents living life on their own terms, combined with the benefits of a village lifestyle and ageing in place, are cornerstones of Juniper’s latest development at its Elimatta Village in Menora, where a friendly new community is taking shape.

Part of the latest phase at the village, Orana Apartments features 40 self-contained apartments in a range of one, two and three-bedroom or two-bedroom-plus-study layouts, each with a bathroom and air-conditioned living and dining area.

Residents benefit from contemporary interiors, modern finishes, quality kitchen appliances, balconies with views on upper levels, 24-hour duress alarms and secure parking.

The apartment lifestyle holds great appeal for retired couple Peter and Carol Bradbrook, enabling them to spend time together, as well as with their family and friends they have made at the village.

“We didn’t look anywhere else, we just loved this apartment,” Mrs Bradbrook said.

“It’s just so lovely here, it’s done nicely and the people are all so friendly.”

With their three adult children and six grandchildren a big part of their lives, downsizing to an easy-living lifestyle was the icing on the cake.

The couple’s grandchildren look forward to visiting and love the apartment, as well as the village’s clubhouse that features a big, covered underground pool which is perfect for summer.

Both Mr and Mrs Bradbrook said they enjoyed the companionship village life offered and, like many of their peers, preferred to determine their own lives.

“We have had a number of events here already,” Mr Bradbrook said.

“You can be part of things if you want to and, if you are out and about, you can lock your home up and feel safe.”

This latest Juniper retirement living project promotes apartments for life and ageing in place – a concept where housing and community design enable residents to live in and enjoy their home for as long as possible.

Thinking of the future, Mr and Mrs Bradbrook wanted to feel secure in knowing there were supports in place should their circumstances change.

“The main thing was if anything happened we needed to be in this sort of environment where there is company,” Mrs Bradbrook said.

Located on Mount Lawley’s doorstep, the new apartments complement the existing 17 two-by-two-plus-study villas which surround a contemporary clubhouse where all residents can enjoy a bowling green, lounge, outdoor entertaining areas, a reading room, cafe, covered pool and a craft room.

Residents also enjoy some of Perth’s best shopping, restaurants, entertainment and sports complexes, all accessible via nearby transport.
