Nearly 40 past and present interns are suing former actors and now entrepreneur twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen for not paying them for their work at the company, USA Today reports.
The interns filed a joint lawsuit against the 29-year-old twins alleging their company, Dualstar Entertainment Group, did not pay them for doing the same jobs as the other employees of the company.
Neither did the interns receive college credits in return.
“Dualstar is an organisation that is committed to treating all individuals fairly and in accordance with all applicable laws,” company spokesperson Annett Wolf told USA Today on Wednesday.
“The allegations in the complaint filed against Dualstar are groundless, and Dualstar will vigorously defend itself against plaintiff’s claims in court, not before the media. Dualstar is confident that once the true facts of this case are revealed, the lawsuit will be dismissed in its entirety,” she said.
The California-born twins entered showbiz when they were just four and acted, danced and sang their way to fame on the US small screen.
The twins, once a youth phenomenon, also own a luxury brand called The Row, with outlets around the world, including the exclusive Barneys in New York.
