Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran will battle it out with top nominee Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards.
The British singer has six nominations to the American’s seven, with her star-studded Bad Blood video receiving nods in categories including best collaboration, best cinematography and video of the year.
Sheeran’s smash Thinking Out Loud is up for video of the year, best male video, best pop video and best cinematography. His top 10 hit Don’t is nominated for best editing and best choreography.
Also vying for the coveted prize of video of the year are Kendrick’s Alright, Beyonce’s 7/11, and the phenomenally popular Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars.
Singer/songwriter Sia is the sole Australian on the list of nominees, fighting for best female video alongside Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Ellie Goulding and Swift.
Sheeran, Kendrick, Mark Ronson, The Weeknd and Nick Jonas will compete for best male video.
Miley Cyrus, winner of 2014’s video of the year for Wrecking Ball, will host the 2015 VMAs on Sunday night.
Two years ago, she stole the show with her racy twerking performance alongside Blurred Lines singer Robin Thicke.
Minaj, who famously had a wardrobe malfunction at the VMAs last year, will open this year’s event before handing over to Cyrus.
Performances on the night will come from Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato, Pharrell Williams and Twenty One Pilots.
The 2015 MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast on Sunday night from the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles.
