They can’t just ‘let it go’: Disney announces Frozen sequel

Frozen fans across the globe have heard the rumours and now it is confirmed, Elsa, Anna and the loveable Olaf are coming back to a theatre near you.

Disney Animation on Thursday announced that a sequel to the animated mega-hit Frozen is in the works.

“Forecast: Winter weather ahead! Disney Animation developing #Frozen2,” the studio said on Twitter, adding that directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee would be back for the second instalment of the musical tale.

Since its release in November 2013, Frozen has become a juggernaut for Disney. It made nearly $US1.3 billion ($A1.71 billion) at the global box office and generated a massive merchandising revenue stream.

The film also won the Oscar for best animated feature.
