Tributes pour in for Virginia reporter and cameraman killed on-air

Two journalists were shot and killed in Moneta, Virginia today while conducting a live news segment, their station has confirmed.

WDBJ-TV reporter Alison Parker, 24, and cameraman Adam Ward, 27, were killed in an attack at Bridgewater Plaza during a live interview that has also left one injured.

The incident occurred around 6:45am, during the channel’s morning broadcast.

The station says law enforcement officials are on the scene, and the suspect has not yet been placed in custody. According to a Facebook post from Bedford County Public Schools, schools in the surrounding area have been placed on lock down.

Meanwhile, tributes have poured in for the news crew.

And of course, the gun debate has commenced…

A reminder to news media reporting on the story:

It seems the journalist’s war zone has extended to new territory: the workplace. Is no one safe anymore?
